Siantar’s pedicab roar

Zulkifli Cape asleep on motor tricycles at the corner of Jalan Merdeka, Siantar, North Sumatra. He was awake when a mother, a prospective passenger, wake him up. Mother's request is delivered to Marihat. Having agreed on the cost, Zulkifli who has more than 30 years as a rickshaw driver started the engine motor bike. And, Brum-Brum-Brum heard the roar of motorcycle engines driven by Zulkifli BSA and immediately moved slowly toward Marihat.

Yes, motor tricycles in Siantar is unique compared to other regions that typically use human power or by using modern production of Japanese motorcycles. In Siantar, motor tricycles using BSA motorcycle (The Birmingham Small Arms Company). BSA is the main supplier of military vehicles, including motorcycles, for the British army during World War II, Allied soldiers who participated brought to Siantar.

With engine capacity between 250 cc and 500 cc, BSA is strong enough when crossing the road in Siantar which has hilly contour. BSA which adorn the city streets Siantar average produced between 1941 and 1956.
